Ruth trained at St Mellitus Theological college, London, gaining a BA (hons) in Theology, Ministry & Mission in 2016, before her curacy at St Thomas's Church Stopsley. She was appointed to St Mary's Church in September 2019 to be the new team vicar, as a member of the Bishop’s Hatfield Team Ministry.
Before she was ordained in 2016,she worked in education in various roles. She was a British Sign Language communicator at West Herts College supporting Deaf students for five years. Then she changed to supporting children on a 1:1 basis at three different mainstream primary schools, working with pupils who had diverse medical needs, ranging from hypermobility, autism, profound deafness, Perthes disease and Transverse Myelitis.
She is an active foundation Governor at St Mary's School and leads Collective Worship there for the whole school each week.

Sara, and her Hearing Dog Tandy, joined us in July 2024 as a self-supporting curate for the next three years. Alongside joining the team at St Mary's, Sara is the assistant headteacher at Heathlands School in St Albans.

St Mary’s Church, North Mymms, is committed to the welfare, nurture and safekeeping of children, young people and adults with care and support needs and will endeavour to provide a safe environment for all.
We are committed to implementing a safeguarding policy and procedures based upon the CCPAS model policy. In addition the Parish will follow the Diocesan Procedures and recommended good practice and be responsive to local parish requirements.
St Mary’s recognises the importance of safeguarding and ensures that all its PCC members have an enhanced DBS check and that they, and all those who hold offices of responsibility, are required to undertake safeguarding training.
